This element, as well as the car radio, affects the quality of the sound generated by the car audio system. Due to the range of frequencies generated, they are most often divided into woofers, mid-range speakers, and tweeters, although car manufacturers also use full-range speakers, i.e. those that cover all tones simultaneously, which automatically reduces the quality and selectivity of the sounds generated, but also reduces costs. A typical woofer is equipped with a membrane with a diameter of at least 25 cm, a mid-range speaker is typically characterized by a membrane of 13 or 16.5 cm, while tweeters, called “whistles”, are characterized by small membranes – their typical diameter is less than 5 cm. Factory-installed car speakers can also be divided into separate speakers – that is, physically separated from each other – and coaxial speakers, i.e. bidirectional or even three-directional. In this case, another mid-range speaker or even two speakers—one for mid-tones and one for high-tones—are added to a large woofer. However, regardless of the system used in a given vehicle, these devices often have low power (efficiency), generate average or poor sound quality, and are sometimes simply insufficient in number or poorly selected and positioned.

The effect of the accumulation of such errors regularly manifests itself in a similar way: the system reproduces mainly mid-tones, being unable to generate selective high and low tones. In such a situation, we can apply two solutions: leave the speakers and correct the aforementioned errors, i.e. create conditions for them to show their potential, or look for new drivers, in case the factory drivers clearly demonstrate their small capabilities.
